Somewhere in Omaha, a team of highly creative creamists have really pushed the boat out with black ice cream made using the finest of Japanese squid ink!  With a slightly fishy aftertaste, this darkest of ice creams is strictly for adventurous enthusiasts only.

8. Strawberry balsamic with black pepper

In Portland, they love the sweet, juicy taste of freshly picked strawberries, combined with the spicy taste of black pepper.  Weirdly, the sweet and savory flavors combine beautifully, to create unusual and uniquely Moorish ice cream.

Dessert trailblazers in Philadelphia have created an ice cream featuring all the flavors we associate with pizza, including tomato, oregano, basil, salt and garlic.
